Background

Design: We want to make a face that comes out of a TV screen. The most important part of the project is the linear actuator, we have to make a linear actuator. Simply put, we take smooth metal rods, put on linear bearings, and use a motor to drive it. On the linear bearings would be a base plate which a belt attached which the motor drives. This will control the forward and backwards movement. Once that works, we 3D print a face and attach it vertically to the actuator. The TV frame would be made of wood. It would be painted and have a sheet of Lycra acting as the screen. This material is elastic and the face would push through the "screen". The whole mechanism will be enclosed in a box acting as the rest of the TV. The whole thing will be initiated by a sensor. While the machine is working, sounds and lights will be going to give it a more eerie setting.

For our face, we created it in Fusion360. Here is a guide we used to go from Fusion360 to the 3D printer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcqH7pc1CbA

When making the TV frame, we needed a background in woodworking to build and cut it. Here is a basic guide to building things with wood. We have a basic enough background to build the TV efficiently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAtNVaEQtHE

Our electronics, mostly the stepper motor, needed to be soldered and hooked up to a breadboard as to make them run. Here is a basic guide to soldering and using a breadboard.
